Go Get Your Child is a coalition working locally to rebuild communities affected by gun violence. We believe anyone can rewrite their story and education is CRUCIAL. Through family based programs we work together to heal generational trauma and liberate our children.
Our Organization exists within the Greater Portland area to build a better tomorrow, right here, right now. We aid all victims of gang violence, including former gang members and families.
GGYC coordinates with individuals and other organizations to strengthen violence prevention efforts and build a network of support within our community.
We do this by:
Mentoring our youth to cultivate a successful transition to adulthood
Exploring creative solutions together to support unique experiences
Connecting local work with city, state, and national advocacy efforts
Promoting a public health approach to violence prevention
Through our role as a central hub, we maximize our collective impact and reach throughout the community.
Our Services
Prevention Work in Our Communities
Our goal is to put comprehensive programs and strategies into place that will reduce the violence rates. We need people that will help build the 12 Sectors in order to have a positive effect in our community. Together we can give parents and our youth the tools they need to be a part of the change they need in their home and the community. Together we create and sustain a community that promotes healthy youth development. Coalitions like GGYC will reduce violence rates in their communities.
Comprehensive Family Resources
Provide families with access to services that connect them to resources they need for mental health, education, career preparation, recreation, life skills and safety.
Develop a variety of specific education, training, and employment programs for targeted youth.
Provide Black, Brown, and Indigenous youth and mothers with access to fun and engaging activities that connect them to the resources they need for mental health, education, career preparation, recreation, life and safety.
Intervention
Provide gang involved youth and their families with an array of services that will assist them in adopting pro-social values and access to organizations that will meet their social, educational, and vocational needs including health, housing and income needs.

The mission of Go Get Your Child Community Violence Prevention Coalition of Greater Portland Oregon is to create a safer community for the greater Portland Oregon area, by educating our communities about the human, public health, and financial consequences violence epidemic in our community through our public education programs, media advocacy, legislative work.
